    Yo! 😊

Im doing some hard work at my site atm. with installed Solspace add-ons like Friends, Ratings, FBC, User, Calendar.

But i need more. What would you buy for $100-200 if you were me? (read the add-ons already installed).

Thanks for tips and tricks 😊

    been shopping 😊

    I dont get this:

    Back up your database
    Download and unzip (commercial add-on)
Back up your database again and put this backup somewhere else (better safe than sorry)

thats for me at least: do not buy-notice!

I try to get by with as few add-ons as possible.  Rather than going on a spree, think carefully about each add-on that you need.  If you don’t already know that you absolutely need a certain add-on, then don’t worry about it.  In other words, don’t go looking for solutions to problems that you don’t have.

I tried that. But because core itself havent changed that much (features) i have to start lookin around. If you want a good site, you cant live with just core and forums. Forums and EE wiki are very poor extras too. So EE “forces” in some cases to get add-ons and then if run into trouples support gets complicated and i must run several sites for hunting down something. But as said, if you want just basics from your company site, ya dont need any or few. I need ad-system, store, better working wiki, more flexible frontend-publishing possibility, even more feature-rich forum etc….

    So -

    1. You have no set goals other than to spend money?
    2. If an add-on recommends a back up you won’t use it?

How about - just send me the money and I’ll tell you your site is cooler than it was before..😉

Seriously - you have the wrong end of the stick.  Forget about what’s out there to pimp up your site and instead look to the business side of things.  What goals does the site have that aren’t being achieved?

It could well be that spending your money on content generation would be the best bang for the buck.

extensions usually answer a need that ee does not meet out of the box. what else can you do to improve the front- or back-ends of the site that you are developing? there are tons of great add-ons but you should use them for a purpose not just for the heck of it.

Thank you Mike! People, please know what you need to do before you spend money on add-ons. And that comes from an add-on developer.

    Happy Coding!

Heh, I have plans and thoughts, bet on it. But because the new situation within the EE itself, all add-ons and develoment has spread around the world, its hard to know is every add-on working with another. And if not, im busted. EE gives core that i can handle etc. but i need a ad-system, BETTER member system, store, subscription plans that needs to be paid when ordered etc. to my site so yes, i do know what i need.

But. I am non-stopping looking after something extra to my users, extra that does not cost any money to them - i want to make my site better, for letting users feeling that they are welcome with all kind of things.

Nah, ya do not know what im after, cos only dollars speak i see…
