    Hi there,

I am using MAMP and VirtualHostX with Lift Off to share a locally developed site with a client. I am really liking the setup but really dislike having to change path names in the control panel to match up with the URL from Lift Off. Deeply Helper has been really helpful to make this a 5-10 minute process.

Would Lion Server be a better solution for sharing a site I am developing locally on my MAC with a client? I know I will need to install MySQL but other then that I am not really sure what I am getting myself into.

Is there a better solution then using Lion Server or VirtualHostX to share a locally developed site with a client on a Mac?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing what other solutions are out there.

YOu could use the NSM config bootstrap to get you started in the right direction.  This allows you to override certain settings so that you don’t have to keep changing path names.  You may still have a problem with file upload paths, but I believe you can enter relative paths for the URL in the control panel.

    Thanks for the help!

The issue is that each time I use Lift Off a random URL is generated, so one day it could be abc.vhx.com then the next day it could be 123.vhx.com. Its the random URL that is causing the 5-10 minutes of work each time. I think this random URL will also cause issues with bootstarp as well, unless I am totally missing something.

I am basically looking for a way to host a site locally only. Most of the sites I work on get launched and never really need my attention again since they are mostly portfolio based sites, and because EE makes it so easy for the client to update the needed information.
