It’s been over a year since EllisLab told us they’re “changing the way they handle language packs”, and that we should hold on. Well? What’s the deal with this?

Hi Brendon,
I will ask internally for you. Note that the rest of the team will be back Monday after their Thanksgiving holidays. For now if you have any problem with a specific pack then it is recommended to goto the original author of the pack for an update

My issue is I can’t find a Korean-language pack for EE 2.3, and I suspect the reason for this is that EllisLab killed the repository for contributed language packs. Mpre than a year ago you guys said you were addressing the issue, but nothing has happened. Lack of forward progress and followthrough seem to be EllisLab hallmarks.

Brendon,
the listing of language packs has not changed and nothing has been killed off. I don’t recall seeing the Korean language pack. My colleague in EllisLab Sean C might be able to help with that though so will ping him regarding that specific one
Lack of forward progress and followthrough seem to be EllisLab hallmarks.
I have made an internal comment to followup on the language packs as Imentoned so bear with us while I get you an answer Brendon

Hi, Brendon,
What happened was we had put together a team, where individuals were responsible for their own language pack and would keep that updated. There were incentives (betas, a free license, etc) to that.
Unfortunately, we had about 10% participation in that program and very few of those that had committed to taking part actually followed through despite our best attempts.
At this time, language packs are simply community offered and maintained. I’d love to hear your feedback on how we can improve that process. The language page, as mentioned, is still there and we do still accept updates for it.
Thank you.

Hey Brendon and Pete,
Just wanted to follow up to let you both know that we’re going to correct that text on the language packs page. Like Lisa said, it refers to an experiment that we tried last year that just didn’t quite pan out. It was a good faith effort to improve the quality of translations and number of language options; I’m sure you understand.
Pete, since it looks like that submission may have gotten lost in the shuffle, would you mind sending it to us again at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)?
Brendon, if you would like to contribute a Korean Language Pack to the community, we would be very happy to accept it!
Thanks guys!
