    Hi,

I am now trying install expressionengine on Godaddy for my own personal website.

It is failing on the database parameters with this error:

Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.
    Filename: D:\Hosting\7257872\html\systemtestlns\codeigniter\system\database\DB_driver.php
    These are my parameters:

    removed details for security reasons

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated,

    Lucy

It is sad that I missed this fact:

EE 2.1 still requires MySQL, and I would recommend making your decisions based off of that requirement.

I will try this in my install.  I chose this application based on its high rating.  I am a little disappointed that having sent this message out to the company directly [after having tried to install it this weekend] they did not point this out to me.

I look forward to getting this going.

    Hi Lucy,,

What is this in reference to?

EE"s requirements are all listed here

There i also a Sever Wizard available for you to test if your server is suitable

What are your current environment settings with GoDaddy?

Also there are certain compromises you need to make with GoDaddy hosting and EE like forcing Query strings in your URLs

    Hi John,

Thank you for replying to my post.  The response was found in a post by Joh Gedders:

I had read online that CodeIgniter supported either (or both) MSSQL or ODBC.  Since the EE 2.0 rewrite, will you be supporting MSSQL or ODBC in EE?If you don’t immediately support MSSQL or ODBC, do you have any future plans to support it?

I am very new to this app. All I know is that I wanted to do a quick install on Godaddy.  I changed my ‘system’ directory name once I FTP; I then changed the file permissions to write and read. I then put the following in the url : http://www.niagaraimages.com/systemnewname and it automatically picked up :
http://www.niagaraimages.com/systemnewname/index.php. And the install wizard appeared.

In the settings : I changed the ‘localhost’ to what was mentioned on the GoDaddy community help : Host Name : lnigrostefanchuk.db.7257872.hostedresource.com

I will be able to work on this after work 😊.

I have the latest version of EE. Sorry I have missed something.

    Thank you,
    Lucy

    Ok,

I have installed the software and am ready to work.  I used mysql and everything was happy with the minor modification to the index.php.  So the question remains, Is it possible to work with MSSQL?. Is the limitation with php or does one have to build their own module to interface with the APP.

    Thank you 😊,

    Lucy

    Lucy,

Glad to hear you’ve got it up and running now. ExpressionEngine currently does not support MSSQL.
