    Hi

i’m trying to send emails via the email module (both through the communication tab, and also through a template using the module tags) when sending through the communication tab, it return the message saying its been sent, and when sending through the template, i get directed to the success page, problem is, although the system is saying it has sent the emails, i’m not actually receiving them. I’m not using any .htaccess files.

    thanks in advance

    Hi tobypowell,

Let’s take EE out of the equation and do some testing to make sure the server and PHP are properly set up to send emails. Navigate in your EE filesystem to /system/expressionengine/utilities, and copy the file email_test.php over to your web root. Open up the file, fill in the appropriate details, and run that file. It’s a stand-alone test of your server’s email system, so if it works well with this email test utility and not in EE, we know the problem is in EE. If it doesn’t work with this email test utility, you’ll know that you need to work with your host to make sure the server is set up to send emails from PHP.

    Hi,

thanks for the reply, i’ve done the test and it does seem to be a server issue. Thanks for your help, hopefully the hosts can sort it.

Sounds good, Toby. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help in the future.
