Expressoin Engine Version Number Error

A client that is running v 2.2.2 build 20110801 is getting this message on the CP home page:

An unexpected error occurred attempting to download the current ExpressionEngine version number. Please visit your Download Account to verify you are on the current version. If this error persists, please contact your system administrator

Their version is a little old. Is it imperative that they upgrade?

Hi, John. I’d have them upgrade to 2.3.1, You can always take a look at the Change Log found in the docs to determine how imperative it is to upgrade.
