I took EE (ver. 1.70) out of my root directory and put it in a sub-directory named EE.

I then did a search and replace adding “EE” to the paths, etc.  It all works great when I do the url:  http://www.mysite.com/EE/

However, how can I get it to work when a user goes to my site at http://www.mysite.com?

Do I put a copy of the index.php and path.php in the root?  I tried that but it doesn’t work.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi, DesertRat.

When you say you moved EE out of your root directory and into a sub folder, what was the reasoning behind it?

You’d need to edit the path.php file to point to the new folder location. Have you tried that yet?

Want to keep the root directory cleaner and isolate EE related content in its own directory.

So I’m to assume I actually do put the path.php and index.php files in the root?

Could you tell me the line in the path.php file to look for to change?

    Hi DesertRat,

Your safest bet here if you want to be able to go to the root of your site and access ExpressionEngine really is to leave things as they were originally.

You could find yourself having many path issues down the line if you go this route and as ExpressionEngine only really has around 5 files in 1.7 then hopefully they shouldn’t be causing that much trouble being where they are?

    Does that help at all?

    Thanks,

    Mark
