Hello! I’ve some experience in web-programming, but I’m absolutly new to ExpressionEngine - in fact a friend of mine told me to look after his site. He needs to change the html-title and the meta-desciption of the page. But how is it done? I logged in, clicked “Edit or delete: items” and choose the page I wanted to change. But I couldn’t find the current title or meta-description anywhere on the form.

I searched the help, but couldn’t find anything matching my situation.

Any hints where to change html-title and meta-description?

Hi wuschba welcome to the forums!

EE doesn’t have a generic meta description input field, it’s something you might add as a custom field or using an addon.

The chances are the title, and meta description if it exists, are being generated in whichever template is being used to display the entry. Have a look in Design>Template manager, EE’s URI’s generally use the format /template_group/template/entry_name which might give you some clues.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, although I’m logged in as “CS Admin” (whatever that means), I cannot see anything related to “Design” or “Template” in the backend. I went to “Home” in the backend and searched for “template”, “design” and related words, but nothing was found.

It sounds as if that login doesn’t have permission to edit templates.

Can you see a “members” link in the Control Panel main navigation? If you can can you access Members>Member groups at all?
