Hello, I am running an important site off off ExpressionEngine 1.6.9 and desperately need it upgraded to the very latest version of ExpressionEngine. When I tried to do so, it failed miserably.

Is there a solid way to upgrade. I really want to avoid having to redo from scratch as there is way to much information.

When you say that it failed miserably could you please elaborate a little on what went wrong for you?

Did you get any errors or did something else go wrong for you?

If you can give us more information on this then hopefully we can help you to get upgraded to the latest version.

well I dont have the details of exactly what went wrong as I did it a few weeks ago, but during the process, the update failed many times. I was able to use google to find and fix a few of the errors, but there was just too many errors were the upgrade process just could not finish at all.

Unfortunately without the exact details of went wrong or any errors that were experienced we would probably be stabbing in the dark trying to fix things and could cause more harm than good in doing so.

Your best bet here would be to roll-back your site to the backups you made prior to the update and then try the update again this time keeping note of any problems you have and let us know how everything goes the next time. This will then give us an idea of what is going on and hopefully then we can help you to get everything up and running to the newest version.

Ok. My site is back up using the original 1.6.9, so later in the evening when traffic is low, I will try again, document, and post my results here. Thanks
