    Hello,

I’m getting this error when I try to load the site or CP:

Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; Invalid Preference Data

...when upgrading from 1.7.1 to 2.3. I got the same error previously when upgrading from 1.7.1 to 2.2.2.

I have seen this in the forums but seems to be mostly related to MSM and I am just running one site. I am hosted on EngineHosting.

    Many thanks!

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

When you performed the updates did you get any other errors during the actual update?

When you say you are running just one site that means that you don’t have the MSM installed at all? Also you’ve never had it installed have you?

Could you possibly run the ExpressionEngine Server Wizard just to ensure that your server can run 2.3.0 please.

Just wanted to check that you definitely copied across a new 2.3.0 index.php file to your installation and that you don’t still have a 1.x index.php file in there at all?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark

    Thanks for the reply.

MSM is not installed. It is possible a previous dev had it installed in the past (thought unlikely), though I don’t see any of the add-on files to suggest that.

The server wizard checked out ok.

I did not get any errors during the most recent installation. During previous installations, I got a “table already exists” error but managed to remove the tables causing the error following the upgrade docs.

I do also have the 2.3 index.php file uploaded.

    Thanks
    Eric

Update: I started from scratch, and the update worked this time around. I don’t think I did anything differently, but looks ok now.

    Hi Eric,

Glad that’s working for you this time. Thanks for letting us know.

If anything else crops up then please don’t hesitate to post again as needed.

    Cheers,

    Mark
