Hrm- like Dan, I can’t replicate.  But I noticed some differences in what’s available in your custom field settings vs. mine.  Are you running the latest version of SC File?  I’m showing v.2.1 - might be worth grabbing a fresh copy from an EE download and replacing the existing one.

Let’s see if that matters.  (Was going to suggest upgrading from EE 2.2.2, but see you’ve already done that!)

Hi Robin. I have just replaced the current safecracker file in the third party folder with the one from a fresh download. Still the problem remains :|

    Many thanks,
    Mark

K- blast.  Makes no sense.  Does it show up fine in the control panel if you go to post there?  And… extensions?  Any extensions in play?  Something is making you unique, but I’m not spotting what.

I’m having the identical problem. The Safecracker file field type isn’t showing up at all and I’ve gone through the same troubleshooting tips as above. Has there been a solution found for this yet?

No- staff haven’t been able to replicate yet, making it very odd.  It suggests an extension or some other add-on may be in play, particularly if the exact same simplified test template works for one person and not another.

Did you try it with the simple test in an otherwise empty template? http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/201683/#949397

And does it show up in the control panel publish page ok?

    Gah. Seriously. Gah.

Nearly a month this thread has been going on.  I’ve just spent the last four hours deleting everything off the server, reinstalling everything and going through every option with a magnify glass.

    Simple fix.

Go to “Add-ons” and then “Fieldtypes” and then install “SafeCracker File”. Then associate this fieldtype in your channel field by selecting “SafeCracker File” in the field type.

I’ve been using the standard “File” fieldtype. I had no idea there was another fieldtype to install that was specific to Safecracker.

Really surprised and disappointed that this wasn’t advised earlier as I’ve wasted a ridiculous amount of time on this.

    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi *Mark*,

I’m sorry you went through all that trouble. I apologize for being unclear. I did ask if you were using the standard file field type or the SafeCracker File field type in an effort to help you troubleshoot this. That question included a code sample that differentiated between the 2 types as well. Again, I apologize for the time you’ve invested in this. Is there anything else we can assist you with?

    Cheers,
