Editing a channel field causes that field to appear closed in all templates

    If I have a field, and I edit it in the Channel Field part of the control panel—maybe I switch the field type, maybe I change some settings—next time I go to an antry that uses that field, that field appears “hidden” and I have to modify the entry form layout, open that field up, and re-save the layout.

    I consider this a bug; editing the field shouldn’t change the hidden / visible status of that field in existing layouts.

    This occurs in 2.2.2.

    If this is verified, I’ll file a bug report—or you can.  Thanks!

    Hi, Travis. In a slightly newer version of EE, I can’t replicate the problem you’re having. I created a new field called TextMe, re-arranged the form to have it above the body field, and verified I see the text field. Saved the changes to the template. I then changed the field type from text to textarea, and went to add a new entry in that channel. I still see the TextMe field, it’s not hidden, and appears where I expect it.

    In the version I’m testing with, I can’t replicate the problem 😊 I had that version open when reading your post, so I tested with that version.
