There are many times where I want to set the value of certain global variables on a entry level in the publish panel. This would make life so much easier while publishing small bits of information on a web page.
Right now I am having to create separate channels for each minor content type and then relate it to individual entries using Playa. Seems like overkill to me.
Is there a custom field type that can give me access to my Global variables? I use Low Variables for my EE builds.

I’m thinking of adding a fieldtype to Low Variables, so that might sort it.

Sounds good. Eagerly waiting for this. Just exhausted myself searching through devotee for this fieldtype.
