I’m running EE v1.6.6 with the Multi Site Manager Module, and registering new members has never been a problem.

But now, every time a new registration is manually entered, the error message “username is not available” appears.

Haven’t found anything in the documentation or forums that might explain.

    Any theories?

    brainwave,

Are you sure the usernames you are trying to register aren’t in use? Do you recall any changes that were made prior to this cropping up as an issue? Any new add-ons, etc?

    Cheers,

Absolutely certain the usernames we’ve tried were available. It’s a small site (username-wise) with less than 25 registrations total.

The only major add-on to the site is the Multi-site manager. I’m pretty sure we’ve been able to add new usernames since adding the MSM module, but, there was also an additional multi-site license added too, so maybe that could’ve been added since the last time a new username was added. But it’s more likely that there have been no major add-ons or additions to the EE installation at all since the last time a new username was successfully added.

    please ignore this question.

my bad. I was misinterpreting the initial fields asking username/password as being a confirmation of who is currently logged in, as a security measure before entering the new screen name.

sorry about that. we do these so rarely, it’s like a new process each time.

    Brainwave,

I take that to mean all is well? Is there anything else we can assist you with?

    Cheers,
