This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hello,

When I click on external URLs from within the control panel, they don’t direct me to the external site.  It looks like the URLs are formatted correctly (http://mysite.com/?URL=http://ellislab.com/), but for some reason they don’t send me to the destination site; they just take me to my homepage.

After reading the above-linked post, I tried updating my system to EE 2.2.2 (I was on 2.1.6, I believe).  Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem.

Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Will

    Hi, Will.

Did you also replace the index.php file on the main site?

    Hi Sue,

Yep, I replaced the index.php file (and checked twice just to make sure).

    Thanks,

    Will

FWIW, it looks like the http://mysite.com/?URL= format works fine for pages that are located on my site; it’s just external pages that fail to load.

    Hi Will,

Can you also confirm you are using the updated admin.php to access your control panel?
This is to replace the method of going to system/index

Can you check with your host to see if you have any mod security restriction on your server?

    Thanks John,

Yep, I am using admin.php to access the control panel.

I’ll check and see if we have any mod security restrictions.

    Thanks,

    Will

Looks like it was a mod security restriction.  I’ve contacted my host and the issue has been resolved.

Thanks for your help, John and Sue!
