    Hello all

we are a greek company that run a news portal for the prefecture of Peloponnese called http://www.isthmos.gr (you can check but it’s in greek language).

We have built a custom cms made in Dreamweaver but it’s a bit limited so we consider the option to move either to EE2 or Drupal.

We would like to know if we will be able to keep the same structure in the layout of the main page and also the articles page e.g. http://www.isthmos.gr/article.php?news_id=25680

We would also like to know if we will be able to assign tags to articles so we can present relative articles or stories of a specific article.

Also we would like to know if we will be able to connect Dreamweaver CS5 or CS5.5 with EE2

Thanks in advance for any reply

    Hi, Insthmos.

No, you won’t be able to use quite the same url structure. You can do something similar, you’d be able to use the Pages module to somewhat changes the URL, but the ? in the one you want to use will be a problem.

You can use a tagging module (There are several on Devot-ee.com) or you can use categories.

If you use Dreamweaver to manage the HTML bits using templates saved as files, it would work.  Does that help?

    Thanks for reply

i actually meant if i can keep the same layoyt of the page ..

also .. we have a strong presence in google results, but since the url structure we have (with ‘?’) is going to change this means all the results will be irrelevant

Is there any solution to this

Yes, you should be able to convert your existing site OK, and I’d check with Google about swapping out your URLs.

    Isthmos,

One thing you may be able to do for the URL situation to maintain your Search Engine Placement is to just do a 301 redirect of the old site URLs and map them to the new locations. Not a great solution but going to EE would allow for better SEO anyway. Your current URLs are most certainly not helping your SEO. Moving to actual words vs numbers will give you quite a boost.

    So something like

    http://www.isthmos.gr/news/the-revolt-of-the-rich

    vs

    http://www.isthmos.gr/article.php?news_id=25680

will help SEO in the long run.
