Hi I want to use a new domain name for a template group. I have achieved it for a subdomain following this tutorial http://supergeekery.com/geekblog/comments/how_to_make_a_mobile_version_of_your_site_with_expression_engine_2

I want to do the same but instead of the subdomain I want to use a new domain name. I have tried add-on domain, redirect
other resources I have found useful are
    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Running_Multiple_Domains_or_Subdomains_or_Subsites/
    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/163582/#800306

maybe with htacess I can change the url from test.example.com to test.com but I don’t know anything about htaccess

    Hi amra01,

The changes you need to make are all on the hosting side of things, so it will vary from host to host. In general though, you just need to set up a new domain name on the same account with the domain pointed to the same web root where you’re currently pointing your subdomain. In the SuperGeekery tutorial you were following, this is the same directory he referred to as the “mobile” directory. You’ll also want to update the $assign_to_config[‘site_url’] variable in the index.php that sits in your “mobile” directory to reflect your full domain name instead of subdomain.

Does that help get you started in the right direction?

thanks I followed the tutorial of SuperGeekery and used add-on domain instead of subdomain and it worked fine. Just some changes for the paths.

Great! Glad you made some good progress there. Anything else in this thread I can help with?
