Does a plugin or native functionality exist to automate the location of broken internal links?  A client needs to hide and show pages frequently (using custom statuses), and they’d like to have a reliable way to detect internal links before hiding a page.

We realize there are link checkers out there, but we were wondering if there was anything particular to EE.

If you’re using a full path for the link, and the link is in its own field, the vzURL field type does a check to see if the link is valid and warns you if it’s not.  Thought i think it’s mainly as you type it in, and not so much for editing an existing entry.  The JCO URL field type is similar but also apparently won’t allow the entry to be submitted of the URL isn’t valid.
