This question may be related to a resolved thread.

i have the index.php removed using the “include” method in my htaccess file. Everything works fine except the search results {auto_path} still has the index.php in there. Any ideas?

EDIT: looks like i might have figured this out. I had to go into every channel and set the Channel URL..is this the correct way to do this? I’ve never had to mess with this setting before. Thanks!

You should be using the search results URL to set the auto_path variable.

What I’ve found - although been told it’s unsupported - is that the search results url field supports variables like {site_url} or {homepage}.

    For example:

    {homepage}/clients/case-study/

Has worked on every version of EE that I’ve tried it on up to 2.2.1.

This way the URLs will reflect any changes to the homepage (like when you move the site to a live environment) or remove index.php.

Thanks Mike, for whatever reason taking the index.php out of the Channel URL fixed my issue. If I have any more problems I’ll try adding the Search URL. Thanks!
