Any suggestions for how to achieve this?

A control panel profile field for each author that will place a marker of their location onto an embedded author map page on an EE website. It’s one map that shows the location of all authors.

Profile fields using their address or I guess maybe it would need to be specific geocode info?

You can certainly do it based on custom fields of the author’s address, yes.  It’s made simpler by Objective HTML’s Google Maps plugin for EE.  I would encourage you to check it out - there are plenty of examples provided to guide you on its usage once you have the data fields in a member’s profile filled in.

thanks - Is there a plugin that loops through members data - I think i might need that for it to work.

You can do it just using the query module I believe, if you’re comfortable going that route.  There’s some good examples in the docs:

There’s also the AC Member List add-on that does, i think, what the query module is doing.
