Is it possible to remove the http:// from the url member field? I’m trying to print just

    <a href="http://www.website.com">http://www.website.com</a>

as the url link to appear on the page.

Also is it possible to remove certain fields like ICQ, MSN IM etc.,

    stevo_s,

It is possible to make some of the changes you are asking about. What version of ExpressionEngine are you running? In ExpressionEngine 2 you would look under Design-> Themes-> Member Profile Templates. Here you can see all of the specialty templates related to Member management. If you plan on modifying any of these, the best plan is to make a copy of the “default” directory located at /themes/profile_themes/. Be sure to name it something useful to you. Then you can safely make changes to those files and modify the fields presented at registration. An alternative solution would be to look at Solspace’s User or Zoo Visito as wither of those add-ons break member management out of those specialty templates and into regular ExpressionEngine templates.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

But those themes are the front end member profile pages though aren’t they? not the control panel profiles - where members actually go to edit their profile when they log in. Those are the ones I need to edit or remove- I don’t use the others. I’d like to remove ICQ, Yahoo IM and a few others as well. Can you tell me where to edit those?

    stevo_s,

You are correct. Those are related to the front-end of your site. There is no supported method for modifying those fields in the Control Panel. You could look into an add-on such as Zoo Visitor or Solspace User that allows you to store Member information in a Channel and use Channel Fields for maximum flexibility.

Jeez…seems crazy to me but anyway, I’ll just have to tell them to ignore them I guess. I just sound like an idiot explaining to them they can’t be removed.

Surely there must be a file that can be hacked on my end?

Editing these files will take you out of support and we *strongly* discourage changing Core files. Any changes you make you will have to keep track of through version updates and so on, but /system/expressionengine/views/memnbers/

And with that, I have to move this thread into Community Help, but I’ll keep an eye on your progress. Just my opinion, *and* strictly my opinion, but since these fields aren’t required, you might not have any trouble with it.

    Good luck.

Is it true that the CP themes folder - which is empty in 2.2 apart from css/ and images/ had these templates in it previously? or are they accidentally missing for some reason?

    stevo_s,

You are correct. I’m not clear on when they moved, 2.2 I believe. Where they are now is more in line with Codeigniter Application conventions. Codeigniter is the PHP Framework that ExpressionEngine 2 is built upon.

    Cheers,
