I’m been using CMS Made Simple for many years but I would like to find a new solution. I’ve had some custom work done to CMSMS to allow me to display certain information on the public side.

Can EE do the following out of the box? or by creating logic using the admin interface? Custom Fields and groups as expressed in your intro video? Or would I have to hire a developer to achieve what I currently have on PBATS.com

I’m more of a frontend designer with some programming experience.

    Job Board by Category (Team)

    Example
    http://pbats.com/index.php?page=jobs

Public and private member management and display

Category display (League Pages) Major League, Minor League, Alumni.

    Example
    http://pbats.com/index.php?page=major-league-athletic-trainers

Category display (Team Page) User by hierarchy
    Head Trainer
    Assistant Trainer
    Etc…

    Example
    http://pbats.com/index.php?page=trainers&team=17

Users would have the ability to login to see private info and edit there profile.

Users profile will be displayed publicly while some data will remain private like contact info.

    Video Gallery public or private
    Document Gallery public or Private

    Thank you for your advise.

Hello Shane, welcome to the forums.

The short answer is yes, all that is easily possible using an “out of the box” Expressionengine installation. Saying that there are some 3rd party addons that might make life a bit easier when developing the site such as Solspaces “User” module which allows you a lot more freedom with user profiles (registration and editing), and perhaps the odd plugin that would make displaying videos easier. Check out http://devot-ee.com/ which lists most addons available.

Making content public or private is also fairly straightforward, there are various approaches to doing this, you can have separate “member only” content Channels or use some sort of flag to determine if it’s private or not, eg by “status” or “category” are just two ways.

    Hope that helps!
