I’m looking for a plugin or module that allows me to have a directory of documents available for download and have it list the documents to the user.
Anyone seen this?

Can you elaborate on “list documents to the user” - what is the process and how should the contents be listed?

Kind of like a directory listing of documents that the user can download. I would assume they would be listed in a grid format.

If it’s just a simple list of files to download for any user then just create a “documents” Channel, add some custom fields for data (download file, description etc) and that’s pretty much all you need…

Not sure what you mean, I am not well versed in EE.

Can anyone show me how to do this?

Sounds like a perfect use of the new File Manager module. Create a specific directory for your docs and use the native EE File Manager tagset to create the links.

What’s funny is that we have v2.1.0 but I can’t see the File Manager Module anywhere.
and this tag generates syntax error:
{exp:file:entries limit="20" paginate="both" directory_id="7"}
How do I get it to install it?

I think by “new File Manager module”, Mike is talking about the new file manager in EE 2.2. The file manager in 2.2 has been overhauled bigtime.

Well, I guess that just won’t work, will it?
Funny how he missed that I posted my version in the original post.

So…upgrade?

no can do, contractor made so many changes that it will break our installation.
We are looking into other solutions, such as moving away from EE because it has some quirks that we can’t get over.
