I have implemented a safe cracker form on my site to allow non members to submit data directly to the CMS. Essentially these are advertisers creating adverts that need to be approved before they go live on the site. The advertisers do not need to be members of the site. This works perfectly.

I would like to send an email to the advertiser after they submit the form. One of the form fields is the advertisers email address.

Perhaps there is something built into the system to do this? If not, any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Paul

Hi, Paul. There’s nothing built into SafeCracker to do this, but I’d tend to use Freeform instead to capture an email address. That would be an additional step you’d need to do.

Hi Paul - If they are creating adverts then freeform isn’t the best option. Ideally there would be a parameter in safecracker to do this eventually. But in the meantime you could create an extension that takes care of this. I personally don’t do much custom development but you would basically tell the extension which field stores the advertiser’s email, and then use the relevant hook to fire off an email to this address upon submission of an entry.

If thats over your head then feel free to get in touch and we can look building this for you. I’d have to talk to my business partner about whats involved but you could potentially sponsor the development then we could release as an add-on. Sounds like a useful function. There may be add-ons that already do similar things though, would need to do some research.

    Hey Dave,

Just wanted to let you know I’d like to see you guys build that addon. Ideally I’d like to have all the functionality of freeform as far as alerts go, built into safecracker.

I also would be more than happy if SafeCracker had the same option to send email notifications like Freeform has..

    Hi Paul,

You could check out MX Notify Control which allows you to set up triggers to send emails when various events take place, like when a new entry is added to a channel. I use this to handle a lot of email notifications.
