Forum module in EE Templates redirect error after registration

Ok, I got the forum module working correctly and re-themed it as I needed. Because of the site integration needs, I am running it inside templates.

Everything seems to redirect and render/operate properly except for when a user registers and the system tries to redirect them to the “keyword” location rather than the template location. Is there an easy fix for this?

My template group is named “forum” and the “keyword” was left at the default “forums”.

    EE v2.2.2
    Build 20110801
    Forum 3.1.4

    Thanks,

    Hi Brian,

What is the value of “Forum URL” in the preferences for the Board in question? Is it pointing to your template group or the “Trigger” word? For example, http://example.com/forum vs. /forums

Let us know what you find.

    Cheers,

It’s pointing to the trigger. That’s what I understood to leave it as in the docs. I’ll try switching it.

    EDIT ***

That fixed it. I read the doc and mistook the trigger word and URL needing to be the same.

One last thing though… the other thing I can’t get to work is the “smileys”. Any idea on this?

    Thanks again.

    😉

Heh… I like that you ended your “I can’t get the smileys to work” post with a smiley. Clever.

Have you turned on Smileys in the preferences?

Well, that’s definitely odd. Be on the lookout for an email from me. We’ll get in there and see what’s going on.

    Hey Brian,

Just got your message about not being able to provide access. That’s totally understandable.

Could you make sure you still have the images/smileys folder? Sometimes folks remove that.

This will seem simple, I’m sure, but do you have smileys enabled for the post you’re trying to use a smiley on? 😊

    Hey Kevin…

It was just an ID10T error. I turned on smileys for the wrong MSM site.

    wow!!!

    :red:

Now with that out of the way, I have to run this particular forum through templates due to site integration requirements. Do you know of way to keep the smileys window popup OUT of a templated window? With it being inside there, it makes a “scroll requirement” with only showing the template header.

I’m seeing the same behavior for smiley popup windows whether its run through the EE templates or the usual method. Perhaps you could share a screenshot of what you’re seeing? And if you’re seeing scrollbars in your smiley window, do make sure you’ve disabled Output Profiler and Template Debugging.

    Kevin,

It’s because the templates are using a header and footer file include. I was hoping to be able to just call the smileys by themselves. (Like an exception to the rule)

Oh, I see. Unfortunately, no, if you’re adding anything to the template that contains your {exp:forum} tag, it’ll show up in all the forum pages. There’s not a workaround for that at the moment, but it might help to make that a Feature Request so that our devs know it’s something you’d like to see changed.

No problem. Is there anything else I can do to help you?
