Website Link at Top Right in Admin Not Working

    Hi All,

For some reason, my website link at the top right is no longer redirecting to the home page. I’ll admit, I did accidentally overwrite the root index.php file with the one from the 2.2.1 download, but quickly reverted back to the current index.php (where /system is renamed).

Since switching it back, everything else works great, but the link at the top right no longer takes me to the home page to the site.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

    Hi there,

In your General Configuration, is your “URL to the root directory of your site” the link to your homepage, as this should be what generates the link.

Hi Fusion. Yep, the “URL to the root directory to your site” is set as the domain name.

As an example, the root directory is http://website.com.

The redirect URL looks like this when I click on the button:
    http://website.com/?URL=http://website.com/index.php

The page just shows up blank. However, if I copy and paste http://website.com/index.php into a new browser window, it works just fine.

Could you try putting your equivalent of http://website.com/?URL=http://website.com/index.php in a new window.
If that doesn’t redirect, does http://website.com/index.php?URL=http://website.com/index.php

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Tried putting http://website.com/?URL=http://website.com/index.php into a new window. That didn’t work.

Tried pasting http://website.com/index.php?URL=http://website.com/index.php into a browser, but it just stripped the index.php off the first website.com reference. I’m using the following to remove index.php from my URL’s. http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/general/remove_index.php.html

Thanks for your help on this. I really appreciate it.

Do you still get the same results if you temporarily remove the htaccess rewrite code?

Yep, same results when I temporarily remove the htaccess rewrite code. The only one thing that I noticed was that index.php was still in the “Name your sites index page,” and after I’ve taken it out it simply removes the index.php from the prior examples that I’ve sent, as follows:

    http://website.com/?URL=http://website.com/

Hmm, I’m not sure what else could be causing a problem.
My last suggestion who be to install a fresh copy of EE to a subdirectory, and see if the problem persists. If it then works as it should, try moving the files to the root directory and linking to your existing database.

I think that’s a great idea, as there are a couple other bugs I’d like to get sorted out as well.

Thanks again for your quick replies.

    Hi hokua,

What version and build of EE are you using?
I would suggest an upgrade to EE2.2.2
It looks like your index.php is the incorrect version

    Hi John,

I’m on 2.2.1. Ugh. Just updated a few weeks back and didn’t realize a new version had already come out.

Thanks. On to the update…I’ll hit back if I’m still having issues.

    damsko-media,

Can I confirm you replaced the index.php with the new one from the EE2.2.2 download?
