    Hello,
I am working on my first EE2 project and I was wondering if there was an easy way to relate members to an entry. As far as I can tell this is not possible right out of the box.

What I have are “Project” entries that need to be related or assigned to multiple members of specific member groups (Employees & Clients).

I am hoping that I am overlooking something and that there is a process for what I want to do. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Solspace User (http://www.solspace.com/software/detail/user) might help, but it sounds like you’d be better off creating a custom fieldtype. You could probably make this work if you’re creating a project on the frontend, using safecracker, would just take some creative JS. But feel free to PM me if you’d like a quote to build the fieldtype

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Hi there Tim,

I’m afraid what you are looking to do is not standard ExpressionEngine functionality. There are several third-party options and developers that can help you accomplish this. I’m migrating this thread into Community Help so the discussion can continue. Good luck on finding the add-on or developer that suits your needs.

    Cheers!

Correct me if I’m wrong but http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/member-list-custom-field only allows a one-to-many relationship. Eg. Entry to Single User.

I’m looking high and low and can’t seem to find one that will allow Entry to Multiple Users.

If you need multiples, check Solspace’s User.

Ouch. Steep price to pay for just that one aspect of it.
    Sad… http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/lg-member-list did exactly what I needed but that’s only for EE1

I needed something exactly like that and just made it myself.
If I have some more time later on I might modify it so it’s usable in other setups.

You might want to check Zoo Visitor http://www.ee-zoo.com/add-ons/visitor/ , you can treat your members as channel entries and add any field you want to their profiles.  You could use the standard relationship fieldtype or Playa for relating them with other entries

I suspect what you’re looking for is the Entry Access add-on.  That’s what I’ve used for the same thing.

If it fits you’re budget zoo visitor looks great.
I already made my own mod when I discovered it.

Entry Access does the thing but not in every case.
eg. When you don’t want to go the each page to allow a member access to that page, but instead want to assign a certain amount of pages to a member.
