Custom Member group can publish but only to "closed". How can I change this?

    Hello!

    I’ve created a custom member group called “editors” who are Control Panel users that should be allowed to add/edit/delete content.

    However, when they publish content it is published as “closed”.  I can’t for the life of me find a way to let them just publish straight to “open”.  What am I missing?

    Go to Admin-Channel Administration-Statuses. Open the Status Group in question (probably the default one called Statuses). Open the open status and verify that the Editor member group has the correct privileges.

    Nope.  That’s not it.  My Editors group has the “Can access status” option set to “yes” for all statuses.  But when they try to publish they do not have any choice but to choose the “closed” status.  Only Super Admins like me appear to be able to change the status to open.

    What gives?

    Did you check the Channel Posting Privileges for that Member Group to make sure they have the right permissions?

    Yep:

    Can view channel entries authored by others= Yes
    Can delete their own channel entries = Yes    
    Can edit entries authored by others = Yes    
    Can delete channel entries authored by others = Yes    
    Can change the author name when posting channel entries = Yes    
    * Can edit and add new categories = No    
    * Can delete categories = No

    That should work, right?

    Closing this. Status Groups were not assigned to the channels.
