I am using the method explained in the user guide for removing the index.php file from urls. For some reason I can’t get it to work.

I am working on a temporary domain right now pre-launch of my site. Could that be causing the issues?

    http://174.000.00.00/~sitename/

instead of once the site launched http://sitename.com

    thanks

    Hi yankeyhotel,

Odds are that yes, things like that usually shake out when you move to final domain.

What type of environment is the site hosted on?
Is the temporary name one provided by your hosting company?

Yeah I figured that, just hate waiting till the last minute. 😊

Also, not much of a server guy, but I am on shared host using cPanel. The temporary domains are always set up by the hosting company automatically.

Thanks let me know if there is something else I can ask them.

    yankeyhotel,

for now the most helpful thing to ask them if mod_rewrite is installed and enabled.
It should be pretty painless once you have switched domains then for things to fall into place.
