Dan, you precisely detected the problem: I am also not entirely sure where I am right now about this case.

I think it would make sense if someone took a look at the problem. To summarize:
    - After applying the fix from Robin I get copies of tell-friend-mails (addressed to my webmaster-address).
    - When I recommend a page to myself I only get ONE mail - to the recipient entered in the “to”-field. I never get the notification-mail . I tried every configuration (different mailaddresses, logged in, logged out ...), checked my spam-folders etc.

    Thanks!

    Hi lehrerfreund,

I will get the Devs back in on this, but just so you are aware, it may be a few days. They are under a heavy load at this time. Your patience is much appreciated.

    Thanks!

No hurry, this is minor priority.

Ok, the case seems to be solved. The whole problem was a phantomas due to the f**-Apple-Mail-Client which hides duplicates under Lion (see screenshot attached).

I am really sorry having bothered you with this.

    Please close this case forever.

    Thanks for your efforts, anyway!

😉  Thanks for the really detailed description of Lion shenanigans.  Someone else is BOUND to run into the same issue.  And hey- there really was a bug at play too.  I’ve reported it and got it fixed up for next release (Bug tracker).

Anything else does come up- just let us know!
