Site Move Problems

    Hello all,

I recently set up an EE environment on a test server in preparation for a move to a production server. After I had set up all my templates and migrated all my data, I took a database dump, imported it into the new production database and copied over all of the ExpressionEngine files to the new webhost (living under a different domain name). I modified config/database.php to point to the new database, but otherwise left everything alone. On trying to access the site in its new location, I got the error message

“Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; No Preferences Found”

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get things working again?

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    Kenneth,

Can you confirm your exp_sites tables match before and after? Are you using the Multiple Site Manager?

I am using MSM, and the exp_sites table matches before/after.

Typically that means there’s a mismatch between the site short name (site_name) being specified in your sites’ index.php / admin.php files and what is in the site_name column for each site in the exp_sites table.

Can you run through the MSM setup instructions and make sure everything looks good? In particular, is the first site named “default_site” and is that what you’re specifying in index.php / admin.php?

Brandon, I have the same problem, although I don’t have the MSM.

    scottb,

Did your issue arise after performing a site move as well, or is this a fresh install of EE? What eversion of ExpressionEngine are you seeing this behavior with? Have you verified your database connection information in /system/expressionengine/confg/database.php ?

    Cheers,
