Updated to 2.2.2 from 2.1.3, file manager empty, synchronize leads to blank page

My title says it more succinctly; I updated to 2.2.2 from 2.1.3 today, and now my file manager reports my directories are empty. I’ve verified the directories are set to 777 and I can see all the files inside via FTP. Attempting to Synchonize in File Upload Preferences just loads a blank page.

Maybe I need to be more clear: this is a problem. Leaving the blank page and returning to the File Manager still shows no files, and attempting to synchronize again goes nowhere.

How do I get my files back in file manager? Thanks.

    aaron-h,

To confirm. When you click the synchronize button a completely blank page loads, no control panel appears at all?

A blank page is usually an indication of a suppressed error.

In your Output and Debugging preferences can you confirm that you have debug preference set to 1 and also that in your config file that debug is set to 1

How much PHP memory do you have?

Yes,a completely blank page would load. Turning on debugging did not seem to give me an indication of what was the issue. I disabled all extensions, etc, in my testing.

I did some work on this last night and the issue was resolved by turning off “Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files” in Security and Session preferences. I was able to synchronize and get my files back, and now I can upload again.

I’m trying to figure out what changed from 2.1.3 to 2.2.2 that would break this.

Hmm… that’s a weird one. I’d keep that turned off for the moment, particularly if your workflow includes upload PDF files. Will that work for you?

Well obviously I’ll leave it turned off as I can’t upload files otherwise. 😊

The upgrade to 2.2.2 has been very messy so far.

    Hi aaron-h,

To confirm, are you seeing this with PDF files only or all files?

    All files.

Were you a SuperAdmin when these problems started, or another member group?

Hi, I am having the same problem after upgrading from 2.1.3 to 2.2.2. I get a blank screen.

“Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files” was and is turned off.

Debugging is turned on and dosen’t display any errors.

I apologize for my unnecessary post (

    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/197888/

) but unfortunate for me, “Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files?” was already set to No and I still cannot synchronize my files.

If there’s another solution to this bug, I’m all ears.

    petattlebaum,

From your post on the other thread, it looks like you may find a solution by making sure you have the latest themes folder uploaded to your site. gylfisteinn found this to be a solution above. Your post on the other thread asked us to close it down. Are you still experiencing issues, or are you satisfied with using 2.1.3 for now? This isn’t a known issue with 2.2.2, so you shouldn’t have to worry about upgrading to that version.

Everyone else, where are you at? Any issues still remaining?

I just upgraded from 2.1.3 to 2.3.1 and experienced this same issue. I tried replacing the themes folder and the issues persists.
