    Hello gang,

Currently using 2.2.1 and MSM Version: 2.1.0 Build: 20110622

My MSM sites share the same File Upload Preferences across all 3 sites. When users publish a picture in one site (using the publish form), that picture is currently not visible in other sites sharing the same File Upload Preference. These are not visible through the modal window (even after a refresh), nor in the file manager.

The only solution I have found is to do a manual sync of the files in the aforementioned File Upload Pref. After that, resources become visible for the site for which I have done the syncing.

Expected behaviour for the users (who actually understand that resources are shared between sites) and for me would be that these files are visible immediately for the other sites when published in one.

... if you guys consider it a bug or an expected behaviour, I’ll be happy to file it ;o)

Hi, Jerome. You’re creating the same upload prefs for each MSM site?

    Hello Sue,

Well, not always, but in this case yes.

Some upload locations are indeed shared between sites (so are some content items for that matter). I just thing it makes sense not to duplicate resources (in this case pictures) when there is no need for it.

I have other MSM installs that are essentially various linguistic versions of the same site. Best option IMHO if you client wants these linguistic versions to be independent from one another. For example publishing some content only in one language or go as far has having language specific channels, custom fields groups, etc.

I spoke with Wes about this, and he mentioned you might like to have a Feature Request for this. I can see both cases, so a configurable setting would be the way to go.

    Make sense?
