A client just asked me if there was a way to sort comments from the “Recent Comments” view. I then discovered on this install (EE 2.2.1) that the JS sort is broken. Each table header title is clickable, but nothing happens when you click on it. The JS error (via Safari):
TypeError: ‘undefined’ is not an object (evaluating ‘e.nodeName.toLowerCase’)

Matt,
The sorting on comments was temporarily removed to fix a memory issue with sites that had large amounts of comments. It will return. But for now this is working as expected (although not desired).
