    Hello,

I’ve been trying to debug my system by uninstalling add-ons. I removed the Channel Files add-on, but forgot to delete the fields from the fieldgroups beforehand. Normally that just causes an error when trying to access the custom field manager, and re-installing the add-on fixes the problem.

However, this particular add-on deleted all associated fields from the system when I uninstalled it. This is a problem because even though the fields no longer show up in the field group manager, the publish page is still expecting them, which causes an error (see attachment).

So I guess I need to go into the database and remove all traces of the deleted fields. Can you walk me through how to do this? I already contacted DevDemon about this, but their support has been pretty apathetic and they told me to talk to you. I realize that this isn’t exactly your problem, but I’m kind of stuck.

    Kristen,

Do you have a Publish Layout saved? Remove the layout and see if the errors disappear. It might just be a simple case of the saved layout expecting the fields

Yes! That took care of it. Thanks a million John, I was really worried I had done major harm to my installation.

I’m so glad John was able to quickly take care of that for you, Kristen! Might want to let DevDemon know about the solution. 😉
