Referrer Tracking Not Tracking

I have a new installation/site (started with v2.2.1, build date: 20110705, so the most current), and referrer tracking isn’t working.

I tried uninstalling the Referrer module (but I made sure to set everything to “no” first, as I read in another thread [#173547)] it was necessary to do that to avoid errors), and then reinstalled it. Then from another site, I created a link to the new site (to create a referral), but when I check the new site after clicking on the link, the referral count is still zero.

I’d done that initially, before installing and reinstalling, and it wasn’t working, which is why I uninstalled and reinstalled the referral module.

I’ve tinkered with the various settings to see if anything changes, but I’ve got the most vanilla settings now, with only “Enable Referrer Tracking” set to Yes (all others set to No) and “500” in the “Maximum number of records to save.” I’ve left blank the “Suspend ALL tracking” field.

I’ve never had any problems with the referral module before, and I don’t see anything in bug tracker about it.

A referral is simply one site linking to another site, correct? There shouldn’t be anything preventing it being caught/logged, should there?

Hi, CDT. Checking on my 2.2.1 install, I’m seeing a similar issue. It works in 2.1.3 for sure.. Checking with the dev team on this one.

Glad you were able to replicate it. Would there be any problem installing the older version of the referral module only?  Looking forward to hearing what you find out.

    Hi CDT,

I wouldn’t recommend it; it’s likely an issue with one of the Module’s dependencies than the Module itself. We’ll keep you posted.

The referrer module isn’t working for me either. I’m guessing there’s no fix yet?

    Hi, Alex.

Yes, it’s still broken. I filed a bug report [ur=https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/16254/]here[/url]. You may want to comment on it so that you’ll be notified when a change is made to the bug status. Since there is a bug report, closing the thread.
