does the live look template work with msm sites? for me, when I am on SITE B of my MSM installation, I pick a template but when I click ‘view’ from the edit panel it kicks me to the primary site and also has the site address in the URL twice.

    EE 2.1.3 with MSM 2.0 Build: 20101215

    Hi florian,

Is site B otherwise working as expecting in the front-end and control panel? I’d suggest upgrading to 2.2.1 as there have been many, many fixes since 2.1.3.

    Hi Brandon,

yes, other than this issue the front end and backend has not giving me any troubles that I can remember at the moment. I have 3 different domain names for the msm sites and use a subdirectory that holds the index.php and a httaccess file.

If there is nothing else that you can think of, I will try to upgrade tonight. (wish upgrading was a little bit easier)

should I upgrade? I havent done that yet.

I also noticed that the link after I publish an entry that says ‘live look’ has the same exact link as the one in the edit panel. same wrong link that is.. it gives me something like http://www.siteadomain.com/c4l/?URL=http://www.siteAdomain.com/c4l/Blog/128

    Hey florian,

It sounds like you don’t have the site url properly set in your configuration for each of your sites. For each site, go to General Configuration and make sure you properly set the “URL to the root directory of your site”. Note that if you have the config variable $config[‘site_url’] set in your config.php file, that will override the site url setting for all the sites. You’ll want to remove that from your config.php for MSM sites.

Did that take care of it?

    Hi Kevin,

this definitely helped. Now the live look template shows the correct path for each site, but for some reason it still duplicates the link. any idea where this setting comes from?

I dont have the site_url parameter in the config.php file so it should take it from general configuration. i also tried the channel preferences to set the channel url to blank, but that didnt seem to make a different for this link.

    it looks like http://www.sitea.com/?URL=http://www.siteA.com/blog-preview/128

    Hi florian,

That looks correct to me. All links in the control panel are routed through the site’s main index.php to protect the location of your control panel from leaking out in referrer data. Is everything else working normally?

    Hi Brandon,

but the actual domain part is in the url twice. can that be correct? when I manually delete the first domain (http://www.sitea.com/blog-preview/128)and only leave the second part (http://www.sitea.com/blog-preview/128) then it works. But not with both domains in the url

This is expected behavior. It’s actually a feature, because if the links weren’t routed like this, external analytics programs would see a referral coming from a page within your CP, and that would reveal your CP’s location. This is a protection mechanism.

Does that help clear it up?

ah, now I figured it out. this actually links me to a page and then I click on the actual url which shows me the preview. the problem I had was that I was routed to my ‘coming soon page’. (index.html) .. i deleted this and then everything worked as it should.

thanks for your patience and your help.
