I have a client who is inquiring about communicating with members of their site with texting alerts (SMS). Is this something that has been done with EE, are there modules in place for this?

Hi, Gavin,
I had a look at Devot-ee and was unable to find any current add-ons for SMS; it is not a feature out of the box. So, to accomplish this, you would need to build a custom solution.

You might be able to create an add-on or integration with an existing API like this one

There is no add-on that I am aware of but one could be written using Twilio (http://www.twilio.com/).

Although I should probably point out I havem’t tested it, just found it =D
