I recently updated a staging site to 2.2.0 to resolve some file manager issues.  File manager works great now, but unfortunately we’ve been getting some php errors whenever we go to edit or create a field.  Even if we are just editing a previously existing field (and regardless of the field type) we get the following errors:

    A PHP Error was encountered

    Severity: Notice

    Message: Undefined index: field_fmt_options

I updated EE to 2.2.1, and I’ve also updated all of the 3 party add-ons that had available updates.  Here’s what we’re using:

    Matrix 2.2.2.1
    Playa 4.0.5
    Wygwam 2.3.4.1
P&T Switch 1.0.4 (tried uninstalling, but didn’t have any effect)

We are now hosting the site with Dreamhost, and it doesn’t look like it’d be a server issue anyways. Please let me know if you need any more info.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi Zack,

Were you getting these errors before the upgrade? Walk me through the steps I would need to perform in order to see this error on your site. Include details about the fieldtypes that are causing issues. You mentioned this happens when editing a previously existing field. Are you able to create new fields without an issue?

As a troubleshooting step, have you tried globally disabling extensions?

I had that exact same issue with 2.2.0.

I noticed that the Default Text Formatting for This Field pulldown menu had no options. When I clicked on the “Edit List” link, the options were all set to no.
When I chose some options, the problem disappeared for that field.

Thanks Jeri, that’s strange for sure.

    Zack, keep us posted.

Fixed it for me as well! Experienced the issue in EE 2.2.2

    Thanks for the confirmation H&O.

It been a while Zack so I am presuming you are good to go. If you wish to reopen this issue feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
