When I use the file browser it loads the window in list mode. However I only see [object HTMLDivElement] in the file browser window. If I switch to thumbnail view, same thing. I closed it out, went to file settings and saw I needed to sync my file uploads. Did that, went back and saw the same error. This time when I switched to thumbnail view it worked. Switching back to list view then worked. However each time I open the file browser i see the screen shown in the attached screenshot.

    Hi Doug,

Did this happen on a fresh install, or an upgrade?

Also, when did you download this version of ExpressionEngine? A hotfix was released recently that may address the issue, as it seems to be JavaScript related.

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

upgrade. Believe it was 2.1.3 or thereabouts. I didn’t update the last 2.1.x update, went straight to 2.2.1.

    Hi Doug,

What browser is this with? Does it occur in others?

I didn’t see it in Chrome or Firefox, but it is still happening in Safari. All the latest versions and build of OSX.

Doug, I was having the same problem in Safari, but I also noticed Firefox was showing me files from the wrong upload directory. So I edited the custom field for that channel and changed the “Allowed Directory” setting on the File field. Once I saved that setting, everything seems to be working. The “Allowed Directory” setting is new for the File field type so I’d imagine this setting isn’t updating properly from 2.1.3.

I found the same solution over at the Pixel and Tonic support forums. Coincidentally, the File fields that weren’t working were inside Matrix fields. I’m not sure if that matters, but I don’t have any File fields that aren’t in Matrix fields to compare.

    Thanks Alex!

Doug, we’ll leave this open for you in case it turns out to be an issue with EE.

I just updated all my fields and that seems to have fixed the issue…now, if only I could sort by date….. 😊
