I see that both the Wordpress and Drupal communities have created sites on StackExchange.

In my opinion the Q&A format offered by StackExchange works really well. I haven’t been using ExpressionEngine for very long, but in my opinion it is a fantastic CMS that has a relatively weak community compared to Drupal and Wordpress. Anything that can be done to popularise ExpressionEngine, make it easier to learn, and to strengthen its community would be a good thing.

I have taken the liberty of creating a proposal for an EE specific Q&A site within the Area51 section of StackExchange here: ExpressionEngine on StackExchange

    What happens now?

A site goes through several phases before it launches to the public. Each stage is designed to improve the site and build up momentum and support.

Interested parties propose and discuss sample questions to define what the site is about—and not about.

Users are asked to commit to participate in the site to assure that the site will have enough participation—we don’t want to create ghost towns.

The site is launched for a beta period to seed it with questions, develop the FAQ, appoint temporary moderators, and refine its design.

If a site reaches critical mass, it becomes a full member of the Stack Exchange Network.

I am really not well positioned enough to drive an initiative like this, so I am hoping that it is taken up by some of you who have more ‘pull’ in the community.

    Please consider supporting this initiative!
