Hi All,
I just stumbled onto an issue where it appears that the publish page upload functionality does not restrict image dimensions as indicated in the file upload preferences (EE 2.2.0).
The file field in question is locked to an upload folder, if that makes any difference.

Hi Joe,
Can you upgrade to EE2.2.1 please and see if issue persists?
According to Change Log this has been fixed
Fixed a bug (#16076) where the file uploader did not properly resize when the max height or width was exceeded.
