    Hi,

my users get as notification of new comments some English message (“Responses have been added to the entry you subscribed to at:
...”) but not the one I defined under design->message pages->email notifications.

Does anybody know where the problem could have its reason?

    Thanks in advance!

    Guten Tag, lehrerfreund.

Can you tell us which version you’re testing with, and is this a MSM site?

    Guten Tag, Sue 😊

    I am running EE 2.2.0, build 20110622
    It’s not a MSM.

Sorry, Sue - the problem seems to be different:

In the EE 1.7. I used the Email-notification “User Comment Notification” - with this a user was informed about follow-up comments. (I at least assume so, don’t have a 1.7 at hand, but it was migrated automatically to 2.1/2.2).
Now in EE 2.2 the user is informed with the “User Comments Added Notification”. The “User Comment Notification” has the right content (my German blabla).

So my original template is not in use, but the default one.

I now copied my custom-content into the Added-Notification-template. Actually this does work.

I don’t understand the difference between the function of the two templates, the documentation is a little “thin” about this (docs:// message pages)
For me now everything is ok, but I assume a lot of people upgrading from 1.7 -> 2.1/2.2 do have this problem without recognizing it (because normally as admin you don’t get notifications of follow-up comments). For them this thread was made. Amen.

And thank you, Sue, for being willing to help me!

    (and my case closed)

Ah- that’s a better problem.  And yes- that documentation could use some beefing up.

If you have moderation turned on?  When you approve comments it uses the ‘User Comments Added Notification’- and it should only send it once if you approved say 5 comments for a given entry.

The old school “User Comment Notification” is the one that goes out immediately if the comment is simply posted and not moderated.

    Make sense?

I understand, yes, that makes sense. In other words: If you moderate comments, you only need the “User Comments Added Notification”.

I assume at the EE-team are more important tasks waiting. Perhaps somedays someone is going to pimp this poor (but really marginal) section of the docs.

    Thanks for the explanation, Robin!

😉  Makes not for the doc team- though they do fight over what gets priority.  I think Brandon wants to rewrite everything!

And glad that cleared it up for you!
