Can’t find it either…

I have been searching for a trial version for some time, but it seems that none is available. I can’t understand why the expect us to buy the full version, just to test it. It doesn’t make sense. I wan’t to choose a CMS for a portal. Should I spend $1500 in buying a few CMSs, and then, after deciding, start requesting my money back ?

I’m sure someone from support will answer this soon but there isn’t a free version any more. They do however have a 30 day money back route you can take though if that’s of any use to you?
Best wishes,
Mark

Thanks for the assist, Mark.
All, we no longer have a trial or thirty day demo. We do have a Freelancer version that has most of the features of the full version (memberships being one part that isn’t included)
See: Pricing Matrix
It’s less than $149, and is meant to help you get your feet wet with EE.

Forgive my bluntness but that’s just wack. I’ve been using ExpressionEngine for a while now (only 2 installs but I love it) and now have a development partner who I am encouraging to use EE for a new site we are going to co-develop. Naturally he wants to download and try out EE to see if it’s as good as I say it is. I didn’t know the trial version had gone away till he wrote me back this morning. What gives?

Hi, fritzmiller -
I am sorry that you feel that way.
If you already own a license, you can certainly set up a dev environment so that your business partner can check it out without purchasing. Does that solution work for you?

Hi fritzmiller,
Please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), reference this thread, and Cc your friend. Tell sales that Leslie said to set your friend up with a free developer copy. We don’t have a free version publicly available but we’re pretty good about working with people privately who prefer to try before buying vs. asking for a refund it doesn’t work out. Sorry for the hassle.

It’s your business model so I can’t tell you what to do, but you might consider releasing a version with limited features that developers can practice with. I’m a codeigniter programmer and it would be great to learn EE

Long story short, we’ve had trial versions, free versions, etc… that never really worked out they way we hoped they would. However, there has been increased interest in a free version and we’re definitely considering it again.
In the meantime, you’re welcome to make use of the same offer. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), link to this post, and let them know that Leslie said to hook you up with a free dev copy. Hope that helps!

I have also sended a request via the contact form.
Hope I can also get a developers copy to try it out with a few developers at work.
We are currently looking for a pre developed CMS, but trying it for 30 days is to short. Got to check if all out between other projects 😊
