I Have an upload directory with Maximum Image Width set to 800 pixels.
According to the docs image above that limit should be auto-resized.

From a custom file field however I can easily upload a 4000*3000 image, and it’s not getting resized at all, the large image is just added.

When uploading the same image from the File Manager directly, nothing happens, the image doesn’t get upload at all. No error or nothing.

    Running EE 2.2 with 128MB php memory_limit.

With an image that big, my first guess would be memory- but you do have a ton of it.  And I’d at least expect a ‘not enough memory’ warning.

I’ll go give it a test and see if I replicate.  On the custom file field- it’s the default file field, not a third party one- correct?

Yeah just a default File Field, no third party stuff.

I have the same problem. Running 2.2.

It doesn’t resize the image, regardless of whether I set a maximum height, or width, or both. Leaves me with the original uploaded image.

Thanks for the confirmation, Ben.  What I’ve done for now is submit as a bug. (I didn’t entirely replicate as I was getting memory errors- which is a slightly different bug.  That shouldn’t be happening either.)

    Bug report: https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/16076/

Marked it as a major bug, as it’s interfering with the ability to get content in there and in my case generating php errors.  A fix is high priority.

What I’d do for now- comment on the bug report so you can subscribe to it and get notifications.  As soon as we have a fix in, we’ll comment back in the bug report and see what we can do about getting you fixed up.
