I am very new to ExpressionEngine, so I forgive me if this is a newbie question.

When you post a new entry in the control panel of EE, it goes to your custom layout of course, but can you do what the control panel does (i.e. editing content, and adding content) with a custom layout?

My goal is to have the user never feel like he’s using a CMS, but is on the custom layout adding and editing content.

Is this possible with EE or add-ons? I haven’t found anything thus far.

What you’re looking for sounds like the safecracker module. Essentially what it lets you do, is display an entry/edit form in a frontend template. So that your users never need to know about the control panel.

Of course, to complete the full workflow you may need a channel:entries tag to list existing entries. Or just put a link to edit on entries themselves (for a certain member group/logged in users, of course).

Take a peek at that and let us know if it helps.
