    I have a fresh install of EE with agile_records theme installed. I’m trying to create my own theme so I deleted the global variables and I’m trying to add new ones and new snippets but every time I click “Update” it sends me to the theme’s 404 page and does not save my variables or snippets. When I turned debugging on I noticed that there wasn’t any GET or POST data…. why is that?

    I have since narrowed this down a little bit.

    I can create a global variable if it has very little content in it. eg. “hello world”

    if I put:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

    <html >

    <head>

    <title>SM New</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <meta name="description" content="Default Description" />
    <meta name="keywords" content="keywords here" />
    <meta name="robots" content="*" />

    I get the 404 page.

    Hi, Digafex.

    When you put just helloworld in the template, nothing else - and you view the page in your browser, what happens?

    I see hello world. As soon as I put much more than that I get the 404.

    Hi, Digafex.

    What did you call your global variable? I’d be tempted to re-install 2.1.3 and not use the Agile theme, and start over. You’d need to create channels, etc, though.

    I just reinstalled 2.1.3 with no theme installed. The first thing I did was go to create a global variable called “html_head” with this code:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <html >
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

    This is the exact code from the same global variable that comes with agile_records template.

    Do you think this might be happening because i set my system folder above the webroot?

    I followed the instructions verbatim in the user_guide for doing this and set the mask as admin.php

    Sorry I’m using 2.2.0 not 2.1.3

    I also just put the default system folder back in the root with no modifications and reinstalled EE. I still get sent to the themes 404 when I try to create or edit a snippet or global_variable. This is getting stupid.

    Can someone just FTP into my site and figure it out in 10 seconds? I paid $300 for this thing and I can’t even edit the stuff like it’s meant to do.
