I now gained an understanding about categories - I now understand you can pick one when making an entry, it’s category per entry not per channel. I catch things quickly if they explain to me real slow…
And I guess it about the same about Status, you choose a state per entry.
But custom field group - the only different I can see from having the fields grouped directly in the channel is that you can assign one CFG to many channels. Is that right? I guess that there are cases in which this might come in handy, but I can’t wrap my head around it for now. But if I understand that correctly it’s a good starting point.
CMS are new to me - now, don’t get all shocked. So maybe it’s just hybris, but if it was me I would have every channel auto-assign a default Status group, and every site auto-assign a default custom field group. That will remove 2 extra steps, per channel, if you don’t need to deal with it. That can add up quite a bit.
