Automatic URL Links - customize?

Is it possible to adjust the Channel ‘automatic links’ for URLS and emails feature to include ‘rel=external’ so that they open in a new window?

I’m using Javascript to do this but have to actually format 100 plus links in order to do it - is it possible to use the auto-URL feature AND include the rel attribute?

We have a no-follow plugin you could wrap your fields in if that helps?
