    Hello,

I am trying to upgrade a site to EE2 and have run into an issue when converting the database tables.  The process goes through several tables and then fails while on the exp_forum_posts table.

This is on my test site.  Once I get the process working properly, I will attempt it on production.
    I am running EE 1.7.1 20110406.
The memory_limit listed in phpinfo is 90M and I’ve played with increasing it.

At 90M, the update failed at ‘Converting Database Table exp_forum_posts: 55500 of 131119 queries’
At 250M, the update failed at ‘Converting Database Table exp_forum_posts: 64000 of 131119 queries’
At 2900M, the update failed at ‘Converting Database Table exp_forum_posts: 62600 of 131119 queries’

    What should I try next?

    Thanks

    Omkar,

Your server’s PHP max_execution_time may be set too low, forcing the upgrade script to end prematurely. Check with your host about increasing this value from the typical default of 30 seconds.

Was there an out of memory error you encountered when the update failed?

    Hi John,

For max_execution_time, my local value was 300, and the master was 30.  I added max_execution_time=600 to my php.in and then the numbers were: local 300, master 600.

I ran the script again and it still failed in approximately the same spot.

The error doesn’t mention anything about memory.  It says: ‘The update script failed without returning an error.  Please contact tech-support.’

    Hi Omkar,

We can reproduce this but we don’t have a definitive fix yet. Thanks for your patience.

Hi all, any news on the fix for this?  Is it caused by the number of entries in the exp_forum_posts table?  Or is it something else?

    Hey Omkar—

No news yet, but rest assured it’s on our radar and we’re working on a fix. Just nothing available yet.

Omkar, is your test site reachable or is it local on your machine?

Hi all, any update?  Can you share any info on what the problem is?  We have a number of plans for the site and need to be on EE2 to make them happen so this is really holding us up.
